November 21, 2022
CADA has announced some key speakers for CADA Summit 2023, and the event promises to be jam packed with informative speakers and panels discussing topics ranging from electrification to the supply chain. Billed as “Canada’s Automotive Summit” the CADA Summit 2023 will take place on February 15, 2023 in-person at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre.
The event will once again feature Jason Stein, CEO of Flat Six Media and the host of Cars & Culture on SiriusXM, recording his podcast live on the Summit stage. “Cars & Culture with Jason Stein’’, including the episode recorded at the Summit, can be heard on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Pandora, Stitcher and the XM app. Jason will also be reprising his “Quick Takes’’ session, interviewing Canadian heads of various OEMs and getting succinct perspectives on the state of the industry.
Another engaging session will feature Norwegian Sverre Helno, the Managing Director of Møller Bil AS, a group with 71 dealers, primarily in Norway. He will be talking about what Norway’s exceptional success in transitioning the country to electric vehicles has meant for the country’s auto dealers. In 2021 EVs accounted for over 86 per cent of vehicles sold in Norway, and Helno will outline some of the strategies that got the country to this point ahead of the rest of the world.
In terms of Canada’s road to electrification, Jérémie Bernardin, Business Development Manager of All EV by the Steele Group, will talk about his experience introducing Nova Scotia and New Brunswick to electric vehicles, and offer insights on how dealers can help Canada move the whole country closer to EV adoption goals.
A basic education about the supply chain will be the subject of a session with Bob Armstrong, President of the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport. Armstrong will explain the forces that drive the supply chain in Canada and talk about the reasons it is not functioning properly right now, resulting in shortages of cars and parts.
CADA’s President and CEO Tim Reuss will sit down with his North American dealer association colleagues, Mike Stanton from NADA, and Fernando Lascurain, the deputy Executive Director of the Asociacion de Distribuidores de Automores in Mexico, to chat about the state of the industry, and commonalities among the North American countries regarding how the associations can help their members navigate the current political and economic environment.
This year’s Dealer Panel will feature Rein Knol, Dealer Principal of Performance Hyundai and Genesis Niagara in Ontario, Michael Wyant, Chief Operating Officer of Wyant Group in Western Canada, and Bert Hickman, President and CEO, Hickman Automotive Group in Newfoundland and Labrador.
Registration will be open towards the end of November. Dealer members can register for $549 each, including two online logins for their dealership staff to watch the Summit remotely, while non-members can register for $649.
All current information about the event is now available on the CADA website, with more speakers being added as they are finalized.
