New CADA Board announced at Board of Directors Meeting
November 7, 2022
CADA’s Board of Directors gathered on October 26 for its autumn meeting, and Annual Members Meeting that welcomes new Board members—now for the 2022-2023 period.
For the first time since 2019, the Annual Members meeting was in person, and the event included welcoming comments from this year’s new CADA Chairman Charles Saillant, and Immediate Past Chairman Peter Heppner. Heppner warmly thanked retiring member of the board Mike Stollery for all his contributions over the past six years he has served. At a retirement dinner the previous night Stollery said he felt very confident that the CADA was in good hands as it looked to the future to address the challenges facing new car franchised dealers.
In his welcome to the new CADA Board of Directors, Saillant began by welcoming the newest members to the CADA Board of Directors, and noted that “we look forward to working together, and to focusing on the association’s key priorities that will serve in the interest of dealers across Canada.”
Some of those key priorities include keeping dealers apprised of the evolving/changing business models of certain manufacturers, as well educating dealers about new data exchange agreements that may reflect new business opportunities. The board will continue CADA’s lobbying work on the proposed luxury tax, and improvements on the zero-emissions vehicle front (such as the required government investments in infrastructure). CADA’s new Board members will focus on the association’s key priorities and support the work of the new chairman and the association’s executives.
At the meeting Michael Croxon was also elected on to the Executive Committee as Secretary-Treasurer.
By province, the new Board members are: Patrice Demers and Gilles Pilon from Quebec, Jim Williamson from Ontario, Chuck Burton from Manitoba, Richard Ironside from Saskatchewan, and Ann-Marie Clark and Kai Hensler from British Columbia.
These dealers will take over from the outgoing Board members: Matt Walters of Manitoba, Martin Taillandier and Denis Breton from Quebec, Cliff Lafrenière from Ontario, Andy Barber from Saskatchewan and James Carter and Anthony Lunelli from British Columbia.
“The time and effort these dealers put in over the last year—a difficult and uncertain year—was instrumental in helping the association and their fellow dealers, and we recognize that and thank them for their service,” said CADA President and CEO Tim Reuss.
